New Twist re: Friedrich Ermisch

Okay, so upon a little better reading I realized that I mistranslated a word of the short bio on Friedrich Ermisch I found in "Sandusky Erst und Jetzt" which is written in old-style German. Friedrich Ermisch didn't ARRIVE in Sandusky Bay in 1858...he DROWNED in Sandusky Bay!!!! I hope there is a newspaper available from that year that perhaps has an article about this tragic occurrence. I'm excited to share more when I find it! Oh, how I love a good mystery.

In the ERIE COUNTY, OHIO CEMETERY CENSUS BEFORE 1909, there are no listings for Ermisch, but there is a listing for Martha Wettsetin and Clara Whetstone for the St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, and four listings for Whetstone family members in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.

Found a Jacob (died 1922) and Louisa Ermisch (died 1930) in the Oakland Cemetery database.

Thank you Dorene!!! Wow, so the Wettsteins were always Catholic after all! I wonder if Carl is buried with Clara.

Martha Ermisch married John Rauh after her husband died so she would have been buried as Martha Rauh. I am so curious...maybe because Friedrich Ermisch drowned and is presumably buried at sea he never had a burial marker? I can't wait to make it to Sandusky to investigate.

Thank you again for kindly sending me this information! :)
